I am in my first year of teaching at Elizabethton High School. I am excited to be a part of the Cyclone family. Prior to coming to Elizabethton, I taught at Cloudland High School in Roan Mountain, TN for 12 years. During my tenure there, I taught a variety of middle school and high school ELA classes (7th Grade 1 year, 8th Grade 10 years, English 1 2 years, English II 1 year, English III 1 year, Honors English III 1 year, Read180 (Stage B) 6 years, PE 5 years, ACT Prep, and RTI Tier II (middle school level). I have been blessed in my teaching career, and education truly is a calling for me. I enjoy trying to help others and maximize their potential to achieve the career and educational goals that each individual wants. I graduated from ETSU in 2006 with a Bachelor's Degree in English. I received my Masters in the Art of Teaching in 2008 from ETSU in Elementary Education. In 2012, I completed my Education Specialist degree at Union College in Curriculum and Instruction.
In addition to the primary love of teaching, I have also coached basketball for the past 14 years. I spent 4 years as a middle school coach and was fortunate enough to win some championships and have an undefeated season at that level. I served one year as a freshmen coach and three years a junior varsity coach. As a varsity assistant, I was fortunate to coach in three TSSAA state tournaments. For the past 7 years, I served as head coach at Cloudland gaining valuable experience. I am excited to coach with the great staff that has been assembled at Elizabethton High School.
I have been married 10 years to my wife Kelly Harrison. She works as a dental assistant. We have two awesome kids who are getting ready to start school in kindergarten and Pre-K. I love my family and spending time with them.
